How to remove reflections from glasses

When you're shooting someone wearing glasses you can get unwanted glare in the glass. There are several ways of working around this. In general I would suggest to pay attention to glare while shooting and try to fix it on the spot.

Fixing it on the spot is often the easiest way. You can ask your model to turn his or her head a little and this removes the glare instantly. If you're using your own lights, simply move the light a bit to remove the glare.

If you can't get rid of the glare by moving your model or lights, ask your model to take off the glasses and take a similar photo without the glasses. This way you can combine the two photos to remove the glare in Photoshop.

You can see how this can be done in the tutorial below.

You might want to lower the opacity of the brush (or the layer) to leave in a bit of glare. This will give a more realistic end result. You want to avoid your model looking like they are wearing glasses without the glass in it.

Removing glare after the shoot

You might not always notice the glare in glasses during a shoot, or you might not be able to change anything about the lighting or be able to direct your model. You can still use Photoshop to remove the glare.

In the tutorial below you can see how you can remove glare from glasses after the shoot.
